Baptism, often called Christening, is the sacrament by which a person begins their journey of faith as a Christian. When infants are baptised, it is the child’s parents who make promises on behalf of the child, to bring them up within the faith and community of the family of the Church. Later, young people are invited to confirm that faith in the sacrament of Confirmation. When adults and older children are baptised it is usual for them to be confirmed on the same occasion.
Any enquiries about baptism should be made to the Vicar in the first instance.
